Hence, its pour over coffee kettle is naturally one of the more popular products purchased by home pour over coffee enthusiasts. This 1-liter kettle is just the right size for making 2 cups of pour over coffee on the stovetop.

It’s important to note that the Bonavita pour over coffee kettle cannot be used on induction heated stovetops even though it’s made of stainless steel.
We were rather surprised to find that the made-in-China kettle felt very light in the hand, and even though it seems sturdy enough there are a surprisingly large number of other reviewers complaining that the kettle’s spout fell off after a few months of use. Other users also had issues with the kettle’s base warping, rendering it unsteady and unsafe for heating on the stove.
The Pour
Fortunately for us, we had no problems using the Bonavita pour over coffee kettle when boiling our water on a gas stove. The lid also fits nicely and while the handle is positioned quite close to the body of the kettle itself, it wasn’t too warm to hold.
Unusually, the opening of the kettle’s gooseneck spout is slanted upwards rather than down-and-outwards like the other pour over coffee kettles that we’ve reviewed. This can be attributed to the fact that the spout is angled more steeply so the upward-slanted opening allows for a comfortable arc that is similar to other kettles. It didn’t give us any problems when pouring – the water flow is still smooth and offers great control when brewing your pour over coffee.
Despite the mixed reviews of the Bonavita pour over coffee kettle due to problems encountered by some users, it is a great product. One tip to improve the kettle’s lifespan to ensure your stovetop flame is not wider than the base of the kettle, to prevent heating the handle and soldering of the spout.
If you’re a fan of Bonavita, don’t use an induction stove, and prefer a lightweight kettle, the Bonavita pour over coffee kettle is an option to consider.

We’re happy to say that the stainless steel is of much better quality than the Bonavita stovetop kettle. In addition to the above, the kettle shows a real-time temperature display and tactile, spill-resistant buttons. You can choose to use a Fahrenheit or Celsius scale, and the entire kettle comes with a 1-year warranty.
The Pour
Like other pour over kettles, the Bonavita electric pour over coffee kettle features a narrow gooseneck spout, which we tested and found to offer great control and consistent flow when making pour over coffee. Even with the heating element in the base and the thicker plastic handle (which is very comfortable to grip), the kettle is not too heavy and has a good balance in the hand. Again, since the water can be maintained at optimal temperature, you can make multiple cups of pour over coffee and each one will taste equally good.
The kettle heats the water nice and quick, but you won’t see any steam or hear any whistling if you’re not boiling the water. You can easily choose one of the preset temperatures or set your own. While a handful of customers have experienced rusting of their Bonavita electric kettle, this is a really small proportion compared to the hundreds of 5-star reviews.
